4 Winter DIY Home Projects to Tackle this Season

If you’re the type of person who loves to tackle a good DIY project, the winter season may seem like you have few options. But don’t despair, there’s plenty of options to choose from that can be done around your home even when it’s cold outside. Here’s a list of four indoor DIY projects you can start tackling today:

1.  Insulate your water heater During the winter, you can reduce your home’s energy usage by wrapping your water heater in insulation to keep your water hot. Remember, you can adjust the temperature manually as well.  It's worth playing with the control to get the best temperature for your family.

2.  Add a programmable thermostat This just makes sense when considering high energy conservation. Programmable thermostats allow you to control the temperature of your home from anywhere and set pre-programmed temperature guidelines to lower your home’s temp when you’re away and raise it when you return.  Some can even be controlled through and app on your phone!

3.  A fresh coat of paint Summer is the best time for painting your home’s exterior, but winter was made for indoor painting projects. This is an easy way to add color to those long and dreary winter months. Remember...try to pick a day when it isn’t raining or snowing to make your ventilation easier.

4.  Clear the clutter Increase your living space by clearing out unused items throughout the house. If you haven’t used it in a year, say later to that clutter!
